Published November 13, 2001

HANGU, Nov 12: The first batch of 750 armed tribesmen reached Kabul on Monday from the Orakzai Agency, bordering Afghanistan.

The volunteers left for Afghanistan on Sunday. They had gathered from Tirah, Dabori and Mashthimela areas of the agency.

Previously, different batches of volunteers had left for Afghanistan from the Bajaur Agency. According to sources another batch of volunteers would leave for Afghanistan in the next couple of days.

The volunteers, armed with rocket launchers and other sophisticated weapons, before leaving for Afghanistan, had expressed their desire that they should be sent to war front near Mazar-i-Sharif so that they could help Taliban in recapturing that strategic city.

Jihadi camps have been set up in different parts of the agency, where volunteers have been enrolling themselves.
