HARIPUR, Jan 25: In a belated move, the local health authorities announced to set up an isolation ward for treatment of swine flu patients at the district headquarters hospital here.

This was decided here on Monday at a meeting chaired by executive district officer (health) Dr Muhammad Idrees and attended by Dr Ejaz Masood, Dr Nasir, Dr Javed Iqbal and senior nursing staff.

The EDO told the meeting that in view of growing number of swine flu cases in different parts of the country, the provincial health authorities had directed the Haripur health authorities to set up isolation ward for treating swine flu patients.

Dr Idrees, however, denied that there was any case reported from an almost a million population of Haripur district. He said that in line with the provincial health department's directives every district headquarters hospital would have to set up an isolation ward.

He asked the health professionals to educate the community concerning the preventive measures against swine flu. FACTORY SEALED:

The officials of Pakistan Standard and Quality Control Authority, Peshawar, here on Tuesday sealed a mineral water factory at Hattar Industrial Estate and banned the marketing of its packed products.

The owners who were required under the law to get their products registered with PSQCA were reportedly not following the rules.

Official sources told this correspondent that on public complaints the PSQCA's officials raided the mineral water unit that was reportedly marketing its products with a brand name of Aqua Mashmoom Industry, Hattar. They said that during checking the inspectors found that water was not prepared and packed according the prescribed standards of the authority.

The inspectors sealed the factory and its products till the manufacturing unit got its products registered with the PSQCA and follow its standards of manufacturing.
