THATTA, Oct 3: People’s Party Parliamentarians chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim has said state power is being used to keep Benazir Bhutto away from the masses.

Speaking at a big public meeting here on Thursday, Fahim said he would bring the party chairperson back to the country following the success of the party in the general election.

He said he was committed to the party and its chairperson.

He said the masses were realizing the fact that Benazir had been victimized as the rulers knew if she came into power, they would have to leave the political arena.

Fahim observed the PPP during its regimes had provided jobs, and introduced mega projects — Keti Bunder mini port-cum-fish harbour, a 5,000 mega watt coal power project in Thatta coastline, Thatta Cement and Thatta Sugar Mill — to ensure prosperity of Sindh.

But, he deplored, the successors either scraped these projects or closed them down. He added the PPP would restore these projects if came into power and urged the people to vote for his party in the election.

Earlier, Sindh PPP chief Nisar Khuhro and party candidates, Babu Ghulam Hussain and Dr Wahid Soomro, spoke at the meeting.

Fahim also spoke at a public meeting at Mirpur Sakro earlier.
