ISLAMABAD, Oct 2: The Capital Development Authority is likely to adopt a new policy under which residential and commercial units cannot be sold without clearing the utility bills, a source told Dawn.

The source said the CDA had received some complaints that some people did not clear utility bills before selling their property.

Therefore, those who purchase the properties, face difficulties in getting new telephone, gas and electricity connections.

The source said a number of cases were under trail in different courts in which the new buyers of commercial and residential units had pleaded that they should not be forced to pay the bills of utilities, which they had not consumed.

He said now, one had to get no objection certificate by the CDA before selling ones property.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, Sui Northern Gas Supply Lines and Islamabad Electric Supply Company have asked the CDA that clearance of all utility bills should be made compulsory for the issuance of NoC.
