SWABI, Jan 15: Police claimed to have arrested four car-lifters and recovered three vehicles from their possession in Kalu Khan area here on Saturday.

Police said that they were informed by officials of secret agencies that a group of car-lifters along with its ringleader was present in Sheikh Jana village of the area.

“A police party raided the house where the car-lifters were present. All the four car-lifters surrendered without offering any resistance,” they said.

The arrested persons were identified as Bazeed Khan, Fayaz, Abdullah, and Umer Hayat. Police also recovered three snatched vehicles from the possession of the arrested persons. INDUSTRIAL ESTATE:

The revival of incentives for Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate was vital for providing employments to thousands of locals, said PPP Senator Saeeda Iqbal here on Saturday.

She was addressing the oath taking ceremony of Gandhara Union of Journalists (GUJ) at Fazal Ali Haqqani Public Library Hall.

She said that Swabi was facing numerous problems. The politicians and people of the area should work collectively for the economic prosperity of the region, she added.

She said that media should work for highlighting problems of people. “This is called true journalism. The politicians will be forced to work for resolution of problems, identified by the media,” she added.

She said that the district enjoyed a distinguished status in the entire province because Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Khan, the founder of Islamia College Peshawar, Sahibzada Khursheed, the first governor of the province after creation of Pakistan, Maulana Abdul Qadar, the founder of Pashto Academy Peshawar, Abdul Wahid Tikadar, Baba-i-Charbaita in Pashto poetry and Ali Haidar Joshi, renowned poet and writer of first Pashto film, belonged to Swabi.
