ABBOTTABAD, Jan 8: The unannounced 12 to 14 hours loadshedding in Abbottabad district has paralysed life, hitting hard the business community in particular.

Due to long power breakdowns in the district, acute water shortage has been reported in the city as the TMA water supply schedule has been badly disrupted. The TMA has been unable to supply a single drop of water to thickly populated areas of Kehal, Kunj, Karim Pura and Malik Pura in the city for last three to four days.

The people complain that whenever they contact the Pesco or Wapda local offices for getting information about the schedule of the loadshedding, they are told in plain words that power supply is disconnected from the main Burhan grid station and schedule for loadshedding is released by the officials at Islamabad and Peshawar.

BAR EXTENSION: Commissioner Hazara Sahibzada Mohammad Anees has said that proposal for the construction of lawyers’ plaza at Abbottabad has been forwarded to the provincial government and after approval it will be included in the Annual Developmental Programme. This he said while addressing members of the district bar association here on Saturday.

DBA president Tahir Faraz Abbasi advocate presented the welcome address and said that Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti had promised improving facilities for the district bar association.

Mr Anees said they had to make all out efforts to maintain peace and harmony in Hazara Division and that the issue of ‘Sooba Hazara’ was to be settled by the government alone. He, however, said every citizen had the right to raise their demand lawfully and peacefully. He gave a power generator to the district bar room.

DCO Abbottabad Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam and newly appointed DPO Karim Khan in their speeches asked the lawyers’ community to join hands with the district administration to maintain peace and put forward suggestions for development of Abbottabad.
