PESHAWAR, Jan 1: Four policemen of Excise and Taxation Department were wounded when unidentified outlaws threw a hand-grenade at them in the limits of Peshtakhara police station on Saturday evening.

A police source said that a mobile squad of the excise department had information about transportation of huge quantity of narcotics from tribal area.

They were patrolling on the Ring Road when the outlaws hurled a hand-grenade at them from a nearby field.

The injured policemen were identified as head constable Gulzar of Kakshal, head constable Rahamdad of Malakander, constables Israrullah of Peshawar and Saqib Ali of Manki Sharif, Nowshera.

They were taken to the Khyber Teaching Hospital where two of them were stated to be in critical condition.

The mobile van (A-9859) of excise department was also damaged in the attack.

An official of the cantonment circle told Dawn that soon after the attack local police reached the spot and cordoned off the area. However, so far no arrest has been made, he added.

THREE KILLED: A body of a young man was found at Hayatabad Phase-6 in the limits of Tatara police station on Saturday.

A police official said that a chit was also found with the body which stated that the victim was Ashiq son of Siab of Parachinar. He said that the body bore signs of violence.

In another case, an Afghan national Sirajuddin allegedly committee suicide by shooting himself with a pistol at Hayatabad.

A woman Ajeeba told local police that her husband had been very tense due to domestic problems.

Meanwhile, a factory worker Shah Murad of Chitral was crushed to death by bus on Jamrud Road.

He was working at Tirchmeer Factory in the Hayatabad Industrial Area.
