KOHAT, Dec 26: Five females of a family received severe burn injuries when a gas cylinder exploded in a house in Azizabad area here on Sunday.

Police said that roof of the house of Mohammad Asif also caved in after the blast. The five females, who received burn injuries, were asleep at the time of cylinder blast, they added. The cause of explosion could not be ascertained.

The injured were identified as Yasmeen, Bismeen and minors Saima, Saadia and Rohana. They were admitted to KDA hospital.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested a two-member gang involved in street crimes and recovered stolen items from their possession in the posh KDA Town on Sunday.

Police said that they received information that a gang deprived several residents of KDA of cellular phones and cash at gunpoint and fled towards Jungle Khel on motorcycle.

Police blocked all roads leading to Jungle Khel and arrested Mohammad Mohsin and Ameenur Rehman. Six cellular phone sets, two pistols with cartridges, Rs3470 were recovered from their possession.
