RAWALPINDI, Sept 28: The district Nazim, Raja Tariq Kiani, Saturday directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) officials to complete construction of three bridges over Leh Nullah by March 2003.

He issued these directives at a meeting which was also attended by RDA’s director-general, Yaser Ahmad Gauhar, director, Project Management Unit, Brig Habibur Rehman (retired) and other officials. The district Nazim presided over the meeting.

Mr Kiani also directed the RDA officials to rectify the defective signals on Murree Road, Saidpur Road and Rawal Road as well as the service road. The meeting was told that rain water that accumulated on some parts of Murree Road was damaging the road.

It was decided that the drainage system on Stadium Road would be rectified so that rain water flowed smoothly and did not stand on the road. It was also decided that the responsibility of cleaning drains attached to Murree and Rawal roads would be given to the Tehsil Municipal Administration.

The cost on the construction of a sub-way near Gulshan Dad Khan stop has been estimated and tenders for the same will be floated within a week, the meeting was told.

The district Nazim directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) officials to rehabilitate the choked sewerage system on 5th Road and in front of Shalimar Club to save the pedestrians from inconvenience. He also issued directives for the construction of sewerage system near service road, in front of Shamsabad Public Park.
