TAXILA, Dec 16: The Muharram 9 procession passed off peacefully in Taxila and Attock on Thursday amid tight security as hundreds of policemen were deployed on its routes.

The procession started from the imambargah in Mohra Shah Wali Shah and after marching through its traditional route of Mohallah Mochian it terminated at Qasar-e-Abbass in Inyat Shahi.

Another procession was commenced from Haideri Imambargah HMC road and later merged with the main procession. Walkthrough gates were installed on the main road where Majlis-i-Aza was being held.

The mourners were beating their chest and carrying out flagellation to mourn the treatment meted out to Syed Sajjad, the son of Imam Hussain, by the forces of Yazid.

The residents and various social and religious organisations offered tea and edible items to the participants of the procession. ATTOCK: As many as 37 processions were taken out amid strict security in Attock district on Thursday.

Major Muharram 9 procession of Alam-o-Zuljinah was taken out from Imambargah Sheenbagh village after Majlis Azha, which was participated by a large number of mourners and Azadars, who were reciting Nohas in groups and also performed flagellation.

Sabeels and food stalls were set up on the routes of processions.

The Zakareen in their addresses highlighted the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions in Karbala for upholding righteousness. Later, the procession after passing through its traditional route ended peacefully.
