IT is a pleasure and honour for us to be Sindhi. The Sindhi Topi and Ajrak is a symbol of Sindh’s culture and dignity. It is presented to the guests as a token of honour and respect.

The Sindhi Topi day celebration can be made more meaningful than to just make it a symbolic cultural day.

Bina Shah in her article ‘The Sindh card’ (Feb 6) mentioned the endeavours of the Sindhi people by indicating some important issues.

While celebrating such cultural days, we should also emphasise improving our education and health systems.

We should work on removing the karo-kari culture in Sindh; we should remove the wadera shahi system in Sindh; we should remove poverty, we should uplift the standard of society and modernise Sindh.

Overseas Sindhi Pakistanis should manage scholarships, guideline booklets for Sindhi people to go abroad, find and manage opportunities for the Sindhi people.
