KOHAT, Dec 7: The Transport Regulatory Authority has kicked off traffic awareness campaign in the district by distributing leaflets and pamphlets among the transporters and motorists.

“If people and transporters honestly follow traffic rules their all related problems will be solved automatically,” Mohammad Abid, TRA secretary, said on the occasion.

He added that most of the motorists and transport operators suffered because they didn't have original licence and knowledge about driving and traffic signs.

He advised the transporters to always keep computerised identity card and licence, route permit, registration of vehicle, fare list, challan of respective stand and learn the meanings of traffic signs displayed on the national highways.

The president of Kohat Transporters Association, Jan Mohammad, and secretary general, Pir Jehanzeb, besides traffic police officers and drivers were also present on the occasion.

Mr Abid pasted leaflets inscribed with traffic rules and laws on the vehicles at the new bus stand and initially handed over 600 more to the association for distributing among drivers. ROADS: MPA Syed Qalb-i-Hassan has expressed satisfaction over patchwork on the city roads, constructed last year at a cost of over Rs40 million.

The MPA accompanied by Executive Engineer Kifayatullah, SDO Musawar Mahmood, Sub-engineer Imdad Hussain and TMA Administrator Noor Daraz Khattak visited Girls College Road, Bazaar-i-Mustafa, Tehsil Gate Square and Zargran Bazaar Road, being repaired with a cost of Rs5 million.

He directed the TMA to improve condition of cleanliness in the city and construct a drain along the Girls College Road, which was washed away by rains.

He asked the officials to use standard material in the patchwork. He also urged people to inform him immediately if they noticed any anomaly in the work.

TEACHERS: The executive district officer elementary and secondary education has said that teachers can restore confidence of people in the government schools by improving their skills.

Addressing the prize distribution ceremony of middle schools tournament here, EDO Imtiazul Haq said that organising such a tournament was a great achievement in the environment of terrorism and fear prevailing in the province.

He claimed that all vacant posts in schools were filled so there should be no problem to staff in that regard.

He said that students should actively participate in curricular and extra-curricular activities.
