LAHORE, Nov 25: An accountability court on Thursday gave physical remand of Askari Bank Punjab region vice-president Khawar Rasheed till Dec 9. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested the accused on Wednesday after the Lahore High Court (LHC) cancelled his interim bail in an embezzlement case.

He is accused of embezzling Rs200 million from various national and foreign currency accounts of Bank Alfalah’s Tufail Road Branch in Lahore during his stint as operations manager.

BENCH: The Lahore High Court chief justice has formed a three-member bench to hear several petitions challenging jurisdiction of election tribunal to appoint local commissioners.

The bench headed by Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry will start hearing from Nov 29.

PML-Q leader Faisal Saleh Hayat and others petitioned that the tribunal acts as a civil court, therefore, it could not constitute a local commissioner.
