GUANGZHOU: Pakistan's Aamir Atlas Khan cruised into the semi-finals of Asian Games squash event, defeating compatriot Farhan Mahboob 3-1 in a thrilling match played here on Friday.

“Both have played well but Aamir edged Farhan in the last game,” Pakistan's national coach Faheem Gul told after the match.

Aamir, ranked 20 globally, played few long rallies, especially in the third and fourth game winning the match 11-7, 11-8, 10-12, 11-8.

Faheem said Aamir would play his semi-final match against Asias top ranking Malaysian player Ong Beng Hee on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Aqeel Khan, lost 6-2, 6-4 to Japan's Soedo Go in the second round of men's singles.
