PESHAWAR, Nov 14: The disciplinary tribunal of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has suspended the license of lawyer Jehangir Khan on the charge of professional misconduct and barred him from practicing law for three years.

The three-member tribunal, chaired by Justice Abdul Aziz Kundi of the Peshawar High Court, took the action on Saturday. Advocates Roohul Ameen Khan and Shaukat Khan sat in the tribunal as elected members of the provincial bar council.

Jehangir Khan was accused of concealing facts while getting his practicing licence. It was alleged that the lawyer was a government servant and serving as teacher when he got the licence in 2000, though he gave an undertaking that he was not a government servant.

Under the Bar Council Rules a government servant cannot be enrolled as lawyer unless he resigns or retires from his post.

It was alleged that the said lawyer applied for premature retirement on medical grounds and his medical board was conducted following which he retired in 2007.
