KARACHI, Sept 16: The PAF’s superior performance and decisive victory in the air battle of 1965 was made possible by intense professional training and the highest motivation of its combat elements.

“This singular event in the annals of air warfare history has since raised the expectations of (the) nation, and (the) PAF is honour-bound to sustain its professional excellence under all adverse conditions”, Air Chief Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force said while speaking to serving and retired PAF officers at a Defence Day dinner held at PAF Base Faisal on Sunday.

Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro was also present on the occasion.

The function was held to rekindle and share the thoughts and memories of the supreme national trial 37 years ago, and to pay homage to Shuhada and Ghazis of the 1965 War.

All PAF retired officers residing in the Karachi area were invited. Prominent guests included Air Marshal Azim Daudpota, S J Air Marshal Sharbat Ali Changezi, and Air Marshal Riazuddin Shaikh.

Speaking on the occasion, the air chief paid rich tributes to the PAF heroes of the 1965 war.

The “PAF is vigilant to the core, and its young generation looks forward to reenacting the feats of courage and excellence performed (by their) predecessors.

Our boys are determined to write down their own saga of valour whenever they are called upon to defend their motherland,” he remarked.—APP
