LARKANA: EU team arrives in Larkana

LARKANA, Sept 15: The European Union’s two-member election observation mission arrived here on Friday to monitor the pre- election arrangements in Larkana district.

Jesusrranz and Baulhorsting, both of whom are the EU’s long-term observers, are from the Netherlands and Belgium, respectively, the DPO, Abdul Sattar Detho, said.

The DPO briefed them about the security plan for the polls besides apprising them about sensitive polling stations in the district. The EU team also inquired about the public meetings of different political parties.

Election activities, they were told, were moving smoothly in the district.

The delegation also called on the local election commission officials and discussed with them about the polling stations.

The EU team also visited the main PPP office in Kennedy Market and held a meeting with the local PPP leaders, sources said.

STRIKE: The arrest of three municipal employees here on Saturday prompted their colleagues to go on a strike.

The police arrested three employees of the defunct Larkana Municipal Corporation, Hussain Bakhsh Kanasro, Manzoor Soomro and Dost Mohammed Shahani, nominated in an FIR with the Haideri police.
