LAHORE, Oct 6: Fancied filly Gee Gee completed a hat-trick of victories when she led all the way home to win the supporting event during the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse here on Wednesday.

Ridden by riding boy M. Wasim, the four-year-old unknown filly beat dark-bay mare Coure by over two lengths. Bay colt Bhola Badshah finished third a length ahead of roan filly Lucky Grey.

Gee Gee's owner Khawaja Atif, trainer Rashid Latif and riding boy Wasim ended the day in a blaze of glory when the trio had another winner in chestnut colt Mera Baba who won the feature event run over 900 metres.

Mera Baba, a 60-100 favourite beat Princess of Mirana by six lengths. Bay gelding Aya Jogi and bay filly Aie Tulsi completed the frame among nine runners.

Dawn tipped three horses in selections won in a card of five events. They were Grey Diamond, Gee Gee and Mera Baba while filly Miraj-e-Husn tipped for place registered an upset victory in the second race and Wahab Prince tipped to upset won the third race in a card of five races.

Brisk betting was witnessed in the third race in which four horses were equally backed – Punjabi Sultan, Mano, Wahab Prince and All Is Well.

However, four-year-old colt Wahab Prince emerged victorious defeating Punjabi Sultan by two lengths. Bay mares Mano and Moj-e-Qalandri completed the board among 10 runners.

Riding boy Khalid Vicky rode the winner to give trainer Abdullah his first success of the current season.

The Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards ordered an inquiry in to the bad performance of grey-roan horse Silver Star in the first race, and till the completion of inquiry suspended riding boy Ghulam Qadir from riding in races.
