Talent Hunt Tennis reaches semis stage

KARACHI, Sept 28 Three players stormed into men's singles last four of the 20th Talent Hunt Sindh Ranking Tennis Championship at the PN Physical Training and Sports Centre here on Tuesday.

Top seed Yasir continued his winning run by getting past Zaid Noor Sumar 6-2, 7-6. He was joined by Nameer Shamsi and Omer Maniya. The former carved out a 7-6, 6-1 win over Faiq Azam while the latter notched up a 2-6, 6-3, 10-3 victory over Mohammad Abdul Saeed.

The winner of Khaleeq-uz-Zaman and Omer Usman will complete the semi-final line-up on Wednesday.

First round Khaleeq-uz-Zaman (PN) bt Zain Malik 2-6, 6-1, 10-3; Omer Usman bt Fahad Khan 5-7, 6-4, 11-9.

Quarter-finals Yasir Khan bt Zaid Noor Sumar 6-2, 7-6; Nameer Shamsi bt Faiq Azam 7-6, 6-1; Omer Maniya bt Mohammed Abdul Saeed 2-6, 6-3, 10-3.

Men's doubles

First round Aslam Pervez and Mohammed Naseem bt Fahad Khan and Hassan Siddiqui 6-3, 6-3.

Boys and girls under-11 singles

Quarter-final Houd Azhar bt Faham Khan 8-3.

Semi-final Mohammed Raza Sawani bt Talal Siddiqui 8-1.

Boys and girls under-15 singles

First round Salman Mati bt Maheen Dada 8-5; Sanwal Memon bt Anil Chohan 8-6; Marib Malik bt Neha Khan 8-1.

Wednesday's fixtures

Men's singles 9.00am; juniors' under-17 singles 2.00pm; ladies singles and boys' under-15 doubles 3.00 pm; boys under-9 singles 4.00pm.
