Published November 10, 2001

KARACHI, Nov 9 : The 124th birth anniversary of Allama Mohammad Iqbal was celebrated in Karachi, like in other parts of the county, in a befitting manner.

It was a closed holiday throughout the country. The national flag was hoisted atop all the principal government buildings.

Special programmes were arranged by different educational institutions for creating awareness about the ideology of Iqbal. Various NGOs organized seminars to highlight the significant of the day.

The National Museum organized a special exhibition. On the occasion, selected photographs depicting various events of the great poet’s life were put on display

Another feature of the exhibition was a collection of Iqbal’s letters.— PPI
