KOHAT, Aug 24: The District Development Committee on Tuesday gave a conditional approval to various schemes worth Rs43.9 million under the Unicef and Tameer-i-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa programme.   The approval came at a meeting presided over by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Shahidullah, who is also chairman of the committee, and attended by Communication and Works XEN Kifayat Ullah, Superintendent Engineer of public health engineering Laiq Zaman, Technical Officer of planning and development department Mohammad Ijaz, Sub-Divisional Officer of public health engineering Arif Qayyum and Tehsil Municipal Officer infrastructure Mohammad Irfan. The meeting approved the installation of 35 pressure water hand pumps in eight union councils of the district and repairing of a water scheme with the assistance of the Unicef which had allocated Rs13.9 million for the projects.

The DCO also approved 30 development projects in the PF-38 constituency of MPA Engineer Syed Qalb-e Hassan at a cost of Rs30 million provided under the Tameer-i-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa programme and special directives of the chief minister. The projects include construction of a community centre, supply of electricity and pavement of streets.

On the occasion, the DCO directed the concerned authorities to remove the objections raised by the planning and development department at the earliest before carrying out these projects.—Correspondent
