KARACHI, Aug 28: An all-parties conference held on Tuesday expressed its reservation on the recommendations of Task Force on Higher Education and urged the government to leave these recommendations for discussion and implementation by parliament.

The APC was convened by the Action Committee for Civic Problems and attended by representatives of teachers bodies, trade unions and political parties.

The APC, presided over by chairman of ACCP Baseer Naveed, criticized the recommendation of the task force and urged the government to announce a national education policy in consultation with representatives of teachers, students and experts.

The speakers said it was the basic duty of the state to provide education, health, shelter and employment to every citizen.

Those who spoke on the occasion included Kanwar Khalid Younus of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Peoples Party’s Habibuddin Junaidi, the Sindh Democratic Alliance’s Alhaj Shamimuddin, Alkhadim Group’s Siddique Rathore and Karachi University Teachers Association’s Sarwar Naseem.— APP
