KARACHI Saeed Arif Iftikhar overpowered Israr Gul after a three-set encounter in the 35 plus single's semifinal and secured an unexpected place in the final of the Candyland Pakistan ITF Seniors Tennis Championship at Karachi Gymkhana.

Arif won the first set 6-4 to take the lead. However, unseeded Israr bounced back into the match winning the next set 6-4. In the third and decisive set Arif overcame Israr by 6-4 to confirm his presence in the final of the event.

Meanwhile, in the 45 plus single's event, Hanif Habib secured his place in the last-four after winning his match against Qamruddin. Qamruddin decided to retire from the match, when the first set was well poised at the score of 5-5.

Seeded second in the 55 plus single's event, Iltifat Ahmed confirmed his anticipated presence in the final after registering a formidable 6-2, 6-3 win over Ayub Haroon in the pre-finals.
