KHAIRPUR, Aug 27: The tail-end growers of Rahooja minor took out a procession and staged a sit-in outside the office of the irrigation division, west, here on Tuesday.

The protestors reached here in tractor-trolleys from their villages.

They told newsmen that they had not received water for the last seven months.

RAIN: A heavy rainfall occurred in Faiz Ganj and Thari Mirwah talukas on Tuesday after a dry spell of the last three years.

Telephone and electricity system collapsed due to the rain, which caused trouble for the people.

ARRESTED: The police arrested two bandits, Ali Gul Mallah and Akhtar Hussain Mallah, here on Monday while they were fleeing after committing a robbery.

The police also recovered two pistols from their possession.

The armed bandits entered the house of Seth Satial Mal and Paro Mal in Bachal Shah locality and held the inmates hostage at gunpoint.

They looted some cash, gold ornaments and other valuables and fled.

Some of the neighbours followed the bandits and informed the police who arrested.

ELECTRICITY: Power supply to many areas of the city, including Luqman Phatak, Luqman, Sabzi Mandi, remained suspended from 9pm to 3am here on Monday.

The business activities were adversely affected due to the power breakdown.
