JAMMU, Aug 24: Unidentified men killed 10 Muslim civilians by slitting their throats and then shooting them in occupied Kashmir on Friday night.

In another attack, 15 schoolchildren were injured in a grenade blast on Saturday.

The attacks came as campaigning got under way for elections in the held state.

A police spokesman in held Jammu said gunmen fired on civilians in the Ghai Pass area of Rajouri district around midnight on Friday, killing eight Muslims.

Before opening fire, they grabbed hold of the victims and slit their throats. Three of those killed were women.

In another attack just two kilometres from Ghai Pass, two more Muslims were killed in a similar way.—AFP
