KOHAT, Aug 18: Jalat Khan Afridi, district coordination officer, Kohat, has asked the tribesmen of Darra Adamkhel to ensure peace in the tribal territory and help the government carry out development projects.

Talking to a delegation comprising tribal Maliks from Darra Adamkhel, frontier region of Kohat, on Saturday evening, Jalat Khan said that the government was trying to solve the problems of the tribal areas. The delegation was led by the assistant political agent FR Kohat, and former MNAs Haji Noor Sher, and Baz Gul Afridi.

The delegation informed the DCO about the low voltage problem, due to which, they said, the supply system frequently tripped, causing long spells of blackouts. They demanded a separate feeder for Darra Adamkhel.

They said that the area was facing shortage of drinking water and the womenfolk have to walk long distances to fetch water, but the public health engineering department ignored to digging of tube wells and solve this problem. A site was identified for a tube well, but no action has been taken so far.

The DCO, while replying to their demands, said that the government had allocated huge funds for the tribal areas which would be spent on the construction of check dams, health, and education facilities, and roads.

However, he asked the delegation to cooperate with the administration in arresting the elements involved in arms smuggling, car-thefts and kidnappings.
