KARACHI, Nov 7: A boy was crushed to death by a speeding tanker in Korangi Industrial Area on Wednesday.

Police said Ali Raza, 12, was riding his bicycle on the main Korangi Industrial Area thoroughfare when he was run over by a speeding water taker. The boy died on the spot. The errant driver escaped with the vehicle.

The victim’s body was sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem examination.

ELECTROCUTION: A young man died of electrocution in his shop in Pak Colony on Wednesday.

Police said Zahid, 25, was electrocuted when he tried to use the telephone that got connected with electrical wires.

Police said both the telephone and electrical wiring at his shop got inter-connected, electrifying the telephone set.

The victim was sent to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors said he was dead.

ROBBERIES: Sarwar Matloob lodged an FIR at the Baloch Colony police station that four unknown armed men barged into his house and took away jewelry.

Miran Rabbani registered an FIR with the Gulistan-i-Jauhar police that two unknown bandits barged into his house, held the family hostage at gunpoint and escaped with jewelry and a computer.

In Sharifabad, Jamil Lodhi, registered an FIR with the police that four unknown bandits deprived him of a mobile phone set and cash.

CARJACKINGS: At least 12 vehicles — nine cars and five motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in different parts of the city on Wednesday, police said.

The cars (ACG-735) in Gizri, (ADS-247) in Frere, and (BA- 4711) in Mehmoodabad were stolen, and (W-9270) Gizri, (ADQ-826) Risala, (DAD-277), (ABH-189) Aziz Bhatti, (ADD-320) Hydri Market and (JL-4469) Mochko were hijacked.

The motorcycles, (KE-6341), Shamim Shaheed PS, (KAP-9792) Arambagh, and (KCT-9741) Chakiwara, were stolen by bandits, police said.

Police claimed the recovery of three vehicles in different parts of the city on Wednesday.

ROBBERY ATTEMPT: The Crime Investigation Agency, Karachi East, on Wednesday foiled an attempt of dacoity in a bank in the limits of Jackson police and arrested four suspects, PPI adds.

On a tipoff, the CIA police put the bank branch under surveillance. They arrested a suspicious person, Imtiaz Ali, who was riding a motorcycle (KAD-7420). During interrogation, he disclosed that his three accomplices were present in a nearby park.

The CIA party raided and nabbed the three — Farid Ahmed, Muhammad Ali and Waheed Ahmed — and allegedly seized three pistols from them. According to the CIA, they confessed that they had planned to loot the bank.

Meanwhile, the CIA (Karachi Central) arrested two suspected motorcycle-snatchers, Muhammad Asif and Kashif, and seized stolen motorcycles (NH-8470 and KCJ-9493).
