NAWABSHAH, Jan 14 Cases of dog-bite at government and private hospitals have lately registered a rise apparently because of uncontrolled increase in the population of stray dogs, which have become a nuisance for people.

Stray dogs, many with open and rotten wounds can be seen roaming the streets, premises of government buildings, hospitals, police lines, courts and other places.

They pose a serious threat to children playing outside and the elderly people going for Fajr and Isha prayers. They are often seen chasing people and growling at them.

People complained that they had sent several complaints to the taluka municipal administration but it had not so far taken any step to control swelling numbers of stray dogs.

People's Medical College Hospital and other hospitals of the district have lately received many dog-bite cases.

PMCH's Medical Superintendent Dr Naseer Ahmed Shaikh said that the hospital was receiving an average of 300 cases of dog-bite every month.
