KARACHI, Jan 14 District South 'W' rounded off its league engagements prevailing over District West 'G' 68-35 in convincing fashion to top group 'A' in the Karachi Inter-district basketball championship at the Nishtar Park court on Wednesday evening.

Ahad was the main architect of his team's triumph with 23. He was assisted by Ali Ahmed 17. Lawrence and Victor scored six apiece for losers.

Despite suffering 50-57 defeat at the hands of District West 'W' in the exciting last encounter, District South 'G' emerged group 'B' champions. The match was decided in extra time after two teams were tied 44-all in the regulation time. The winners scored 13 as against six scored by the losers in the extra time.

Earlier, the losers dominated the first two quarters 12-8, 9-8 but could not maintain the pace losing 8-13 in the third quarter on resumption. The two teams were locked 15-all in the fourth and last quarter.

Tahir Ahmed top scored for winners with 22 followed by Shehryar (15) and Hawwad (10). Akmal Jamil amassed 25 for losers. Other scorers were Ashraf Yayha (13) and Adnan Ali (7).

District South 'W' meets District West 'W' while District South 'G' faces District East 'G' in the two semi-finals.
