KARACHI, Aug 4: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s coordination committee has condemned the arrest of a party worker of its Pretabad unit, Hyderabad.

In a statement, it said Tariq Ali was arrested on July 31 at his residence and to implicate him in false and baseless cases he was being tortured in the lockups for the last two days, endangering his life.

“During the last two months a number of innocent MQM workers have been killed, but none of the killers has been arrested and on the contrary our innocent party workers are being arrested,” the committee pointed out and urged interior minister Moinuddin Haider and Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro to immediately release Tariq Ali.
