KARACHI, Aug 4: Sindh Chief Secretary K.B. Rind has expressed hope that the enquiry committee probing the causes of the breach in the Rohri canal will submit its report within the next few days.

Speaking to a joint delegation comprising a number of social welfare organizations here on Saturday, he said that a five-member committee incorporating a senior member of the Board of Revenue, two chief engineers, a retired engineer and a representative of growers would likely pinpoint the cause behind the breach, which resulted in a great loss to both the people and the government.

He referred to the assistance provided by urbanites to the villagers affected by the breach, and said that people living in urban and rural areas of Sindh are bonded by traditional brotherhood.

He said that all types of assistance would be provided to those affected by the breach, besides adequate compensation to the growers.—APP
