KARACHI, July 30: City Naib Nazim Tariq Hasan on Tuesday visited the city district government offices at the defunct KMC head office and ordered cleaning of the entire building within one week.

He directed that all the offices set up in passageways should be relocated. The Naib Nazim inspected the historic clock of the building and showed his displeasure over its condition.

He pointed out that the building, constructed in 1931, is a historic asset and its maintenance is our national responsibility.

Tariq Hasan also visited the drawing section and issued directives for better preservation of plans of the old city area and pucca binding of its 150-year-old records.

He said most offices of the city government located in the building were gradually being shifted to the Nazim Secretariat at the Civic Centre.

The Naib Nazim set up a committee with the directive to submit a detailed report about matters related to the building.—APP
