KARACHI, July 29: At least six persons fell victim to reckless driving in different parts of the city.

Iqbal Malik, aged 29, was travelling on his motorcycle (KCM- 6923) on Monday morning when near the Siemense roundabout in Site area he was hit by a speeding water tanker (JT-0263), police said.

The victim was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police claimed to have arrested the driver, Sajjad Ali, and impounded the vehicle.

Mrs Tanveer Zaidi, aged 35, who was crossing the Karsaz Road near Pir Bukhari Mazar, was knocked down by a speeding vehicle (CK-7949).

The injured was taken to the JPMC where she was pronounced dead. The driver, identified as Samuel, was arrested and the vehicle was impounded, police said.

In another accident, a young man, identified as Raza Elahi, aged 30, was hit by a speeding water tanker near Bara Board, late Sunday night. The driver escaped. The victim died on way to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

An unidentified vehicle hit and killed a young man, identified as Suleman, aged 23, near Saeed Manzil late Sunday night.

The injured later died when he was being provided treatment at the Civil Hospital.

Another unidentified man, in his late 30s, died in Model Colony late Sunday night when a speeding bus (JA-9687) hit him near Malir Halt.

The victim was shifted to the JPMC where he was pronounced dead. The body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification. The bus driver escaped.

A man, in his late 30s, was run over by a locomotive coming from Lahore, beneath the Kalapul Bridge. Police said the man was trying to cross the tracks in front of the vehicle when he came under its wheels.
