KARACHI, July 28: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan chief and president of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal Allama, Shah Ahmad Noorani, has said no society can progress without meeting the requirements of justice and fair play.

He said in order to stabilise the judicial system, ensure rule of law and strengthen the economy we have to close all doors of corruption.

Allama Noorani was speaking to his party workers at the Quaid-i-Azam Airport after his arrival from Islamabad.

Referring to the ongoing debate on balance of power, he said the world has made tremendous progress in all walks of life, but in Pakistan the debate on balance of power still goes on.

“As far as the Constitution of 1973 is concerned, this has never been implemented in its totality. After coming to power everyone gets busy in planning to acquire maximum powers for himself which results in trampling the rule of law.”

He alleged that the FIA has got a free hand in the affairs of the country while the US and Britain were asking Pakistan to meet its commitment and forget to ask for a plebiscite in Kashmir. Why don’t they ask India and the UN to honour their commitments, he remarked.

He said MMA after coming to power will root out terrorism and corruption in the country.
