GUJRANWALA, Nov 5: Female members of the Gujranwala District Bar Association have formed their separate wing.

They have demanded separate bar and reading rooms besides chambers in the sessions court compound.

Speaking at a meeting held here on Monday, women lawyers’ wing convener Ms Uzma Rafiq appealed to judges that they should dispose of their cases on priority. “It is difficult for us to sit along male lawyers and their clients,” she said.

The meeting demanded that women should be provided with better facilities in courtrooms during the hearing of their cases. They sought representation on lawyers’ committees.

The meeting was attended by Ms Samina Zarin, Ms Huma Amin, Ms Shah Bano, Ms Fazia Nagra, Ms Aqsa Ghaffar, Ms Naurin Athar, Ms Zille Huma and Ms Shazia.

CONVENTION: An ulema convention has urged Muslim countries to unite at a platform to condemn US-led airstrikes and the killing of innocent people in Afghanistan.

Speaking at a convention in Wazirabad on Sunday, Afghan Shoora member Maulana Qazi Hamidullah said the US and its allies could not dismantle the Taliban government through heavy bombardment on Afghanistan.
