RAWALPINDI July 27: The supplementary budget of Rs2,191.958 million will be presented for approval in the district council session on Tuesday for the current fiscal, sources said here on Saturday.

The council had earlier this month passed Rs328.996 million deficit budget for the fiscal year 2002-03 and announced that the supplementary budget would be presented after the provincial grant was received.

It is being anticipated that the council would pass the supplementary budget on Tuesday, as, according to rules, it should be approved before the end of the current month.

Under the rules, it is the responsibility of the provincial government to approve and authenticate the budget if the district council fails to approve the budget within the stipulated period.

However, the district government would spend 87.1 per cent on salaries and other expenditures of its various departments.

The total allocation for the annual development programme for the district under the supplementary budget is Rs282.590 million. This would be in addition to Rs155.59 million, earmarked for this purpose in the budget passed earlier this month.

The total amount thus allocated for the development projects would come to Rs438.18 million.
