HYDERABAD, July 26: The provincial Minister for Forests and Environment, Hassan Ali Chanhio, has said that a campaign will be launched from Aug 1 to contain the increasing environmental pollution in Thatta town as well as for its beautification.

He was presiding over a meeting, which discussed ways and means to protect the town against environmental pollution, at the Circuit House in Thatta on Friday.

A beautification plan for the town was also deliberated upon at the meeting which was attended, among others, by the Zila Nazim, Syed Shafqat Hussain Shah Shirazi.

Mr Chanhio said that the NGOs could play a leading role in the beautification of the town for which a campaign should be launched in every locality and village.

He pledged full cooperation of the provincial government and the EPA to the NGOs in furtherance of this objective.
