MINGORA, Sept 17 Security forces foiled an attempt by militants to enter Mingora and carry out terrorist acts.

Acting on a tip-off, troops and police personnel engaged the militants when they crossed the Swat river, killing 10 of them on the spot.

Six other militants were captured.

According to the Swat Media Centre, a watchman named Amjad, who turned out to be Taliban's informer was also arrested.

The dead militants were buried in Gumbad Meera graveyard.

Ten militants surrendered to security forces in Chapryal and Amloke, four in Bar Shor, four in Baish Banr and Shah Dheri, six in Shah Dhand Banda of Matta tehsil and 11 in Galoch, Khairabad, Kala Kalley and Totano Bandai of Kabal tehsil.

In Mingora, Taliban 'commander' Fazal Ghanai of Tankai Cheena of Charbagh tehsil was arrested.

Fifteen militants were arrested in Mamdheri in Kabal tehsil and one in Rahimabad area.—Correspondent
