KARACHI, July 21: The syndicate of the University of Karachi, which met here on Saturday with vice-chancellor Dr Zafar Saeed Saify in the chair, discussed the appointment of chairpersons to various departments.

It was decided that till the scrutiny of seniority is carried out the incumbent chairpersons would continue to perform their duties.

The meeting also approved the statutes of the Abdul Qadeer Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering and the Feroze Ahmed Institute of Mass Communication and referred these to the university’s senate committee.

The participants appreciated the university administration for conducting a maximum number of selection boards during the past six months and for clearing the backlog of the past six years or so.—APP
