KARACHI, Aug 20 The Sindh High Court on Thursday issued notices to former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain and a number of other people to appear in the court on Aug 31 when a petition and three related applications concerning the May 12, 2007, mayhem in Karachi which claimed 50 lives will be heard.

The petition and applications have been filed by social worker and human rights activist Syed Iqbal Kazmi.

The other respondents put on notice are Sindh's former home minister Waseem Akhtar, former home secretary Brig (retd) Ghulam Mohammad Mohtaram and senior police officials at that time.—APP
