KARACHI, Aug 15 District South 'W' rounded off their league engagements on a winning note when they thrashed Hyderabad 45-36 to ensure a berth in semi-finals of the 3rd NBP President's Cup basketball tournament at Arambagh floodlit court on Friday night.

Surprisingly, the outstation outfit put up a brilliant show in the initial stages of the match to enjoy 19-14 lead at half time. However, they failed to maintain the tempo in the post interval session and went down fighting to suffer second straight defeat in as many days. They are yet to play two more games.

Adnan Ali was outstanding for winners with 17. He was followed by Ashraf Yayha (6), Zain-ul-Abedin (5) and Akmal Jamil (4). Absar and Asad shone for Hyderabad and equally shared 26 points amongst themselves.

In the second match, District Central registered second victory in group 'B' when they got the better of Sindh Police 64-23 in a one-sided match. The winners led 37-13 at half time.

Mohsin and Shahid excelled in shooting scoring 18 and 16 respectively. They were assisted by Idrees who scored 10. Rohail scored 16 for losers.

District Central also completed their matches winning two and losing as many games to District South 'G' and Malir.
