KARACHI, July 16: The Karachi Press Club and the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) on Tuesday organized a condolence meeting to pay tribute to late journalist Zafar Rizvi.

The meeting, chaired by KPC president Sabihuddin Ghousi and president of the KUJ, Qamarullah Chaudri, was addressed by APNEC Chairman Abdul Hameed Chhappra, KUJ secretary Rana M. Khalid, joint secretary Ajiz Jamali, KPC secretary Najeeb Ahmad, Wahid Bashir, Shafi Aqeel, Ahfazur Rehman and others.

The speakers paid tribute to the committed trade unionist and professional journalist and highlighted different aspects of his life and struggle for the rights of the oppressed classes of society.

They were of the view that late Zafar Rizvi was one of the few who implemented the philosophy and principles on themselves before asking others to follow them. He was the one who never compromised on principles and died in a rented house, they pointed out.

They said real tribute to the late Zafar Rizvi was to follow his mission and show commitment to the struggle for the rights of the oppressed class.

At another condolence meeting held in the office of daily Jang, the speakers also paid tribute to Zafar Rizvi for his professionalism.

They said Zafar Rizvi remained deeply involved in the KUJ and PFUJ activities, besides siding with the workers’ class of other professions.—APP
