MULTAN, July 30 The Punjab government will construct a modern gymnasium, four squash courts and a swimming pool here at Bahauddin Zakariya University.

BZU vice-chancellor Dr Zafarullah stated this while presiding over a meeting to review the annual sports performance on Thursday.

The varsity secured “Role of Honour” and “All Round Trophy” with 60 points this year and it was its 9th consecutive achievement during the last nine years.

Dr Zafarullah said steps would be taken to promote sports among the youngsters. He said floodlit poles would be installed at hockey and football ground.

He said “It is obligatory for students to take part in sports and for this purpose sports common rooms will be built at each department where facility of table tennis will be offered to students.”

The meeting was attended by Prof Shahida Niazi, Dr Muhammad Ali, Dr Ejaz Iqbal, Dr Imran Sharif and others. —APP
