THATTA, June 30 The Thatta District Council approved Rs3.0726 billion for 2009-10 in its budget session held on Tuesday.

Convener Raees Iqbal Chandio chaired the session and District Nazim Syed Shafqat Shah Sherazi presented the document which received a unanimous approval through a resolution tabled by Abdul Qadir Lashari.

District Nazim told the participants that Rs2.0329 billion was for non-development expenditure, including salaries and miscellaneous expenses and Rs599.955 million for the Annual Development Plan (ADP).

The district government, in the outgoing year completed 64 schemes of road network, including 93km long metallic roads and five bridges, he said. Some 63 schemes costing Rs88.4 million were approved in the previous fiscal under the Citizen Community Boards (CCB) out of which Rs60.724 million were released, said the District Nazim.

He said that Rs599.955 were allocated for 398 metallic roads schemes, 13 in education sector, 12 in health sector and 61 schemes of water and drainage.
