ISLAMABAD, June 8 The Pakistan People's Party will observe the 55th birth anniversary of its slain leader Benazir Bhutto with simplicity later this month by donating blood to soldiers fighting against militants in Malakand division.

“We will launch a blood donation campaign on the occasion of our beloved leader's birthday,” said the secretary-general of the PPP, Jahangir Badar, in a press conference. He was accompanied by the party's information secretary, Fauzia Wahab.

“Our soldiers are giving their blood for ... saving the country from terrorism. Therefore, the PPP will reciprocate.”

The PPP also decided to set up blood donation camps at district level on June 21, Ms Bhutto's date of birth.

They said the party was waiting for a report from the United Nations investigators so that the culprits could be brought to justice.

Asked about the delay in the probe, they said they were confident that the UN would expose Ms Bhutto's killers.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik claimed that he had done “a lot to investigate the case” and would pass on the information to the UN investigators.
