SUKKUR, June 5 The Ghotki police arrested four foreigners -- two Afghan and two Tajiks, during routine check at Kamoon Shaheed police check-post situated at Sindh-Punjab border on Friday.

According to Ghotki DPO Jawed Jiskani, due to large-scale influx of internally displaced persons from Swat and other parts of NWFP into Sindh and to check infiltration of terrorist elements, which might accompany the IDPs, stern measures were taken in Ghotki district, particularly at the border area.

According to him, during checking of passenger buses and coaches and other vehicles entering Sindh from Punjab, police arrested four suspects and shifted them to Ubauro police station.

He said during initial investigation, it was revealed that two of them were Afghan nationals, identified as Asadullah, 28, and Matiullah, 18, while two Tajiks were identified as Najeebullah, 23, and Abdul Samad, 19. No passport or visa or any other document was found in their possession, the DPO said.

He said that they were booked under Foreigners Act and investigation was underway.

In another development, the Kashmore police, during routine check in the border area of Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab, detained 10 suspected Taliban from a bus of the IDPs and took them to Kashmore police station.

Reports said that afterwards the detained persons were taken away by the personnel of an intelligence agency and after a thorough interrogation, were released in the evening.
