ISLAMABAD, June 2 All the three government-run hospitals of the capital along with city fire brigade department and civil defence have been put on high alert for an indefinite period, sources told Dawn here on Tuesday.
The hospital administrations have been asked to declare a state of the high alert at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Federal Government Services Hospital and Capital Development Authority's hospital, the sources said.
Following the directives, the Pims administration has taken extra arrangements and activated its disaster management plan under which 500 medical personnel would provide medical assistance, including operations, at a time, an official of the hospital said.
Besides, more than 1,000 doctors, nurses and paramedics and staff of operation theaters have also been put on stand-by, he said, adding that they were asked to remain alert and ”whenever ask immediately rush towards their respective departments”.
Surgical IV of the hospital has been reserved to deal any emergency situation and 15 ambulances are ready for emergency cases. And, surgical equipment, medicines, drips and blood bags have also been arranged and stored for use in any emergency.
The FGSH and CDA hospital have also made all arrangements to deal any emergency situation.
Also, a contingent of 35 fire engines each with six firefighters has been placed on alert at the Islamabad City Fire Brigade's Headquarters. Besides, six fire engines along with their crew have been deployed at six different localities of the capital - France Chowk, D-Chowk, G-5, G-9, I-9 and G-10.
Entry passes
Deputy Commissioner Asadullah Faiz on Tuesday constituted a transport security committee to issue passes to heavy vehicles for entering into capital.
The committee will consist of Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority, Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic, member of DSP headquarters and motor vehicle examiner.
He also constituted two other committees, one for East Circle and the other for West Circle, comprising assistant commissioner and magistrate of city circle and AC and magistrate Sadar.
These committees will carry out detailed survey of all construction work in their respective jurisdictions within a week in order to issue the entry passes to the vehicles carrying the construction material.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner ICT Asadullah Faiz directed all the contractors of construction companies to immediately furnish the list of their vehicles including dumpers and loaders carrying construction material to the Secretary ITA so that entry passes could be issued to such vehicles for their own convenience.
