KOHAT, May 29 A minor girl was injured and four shops were gutted in a bomb blast here on Friday.

Militants had planted a time bomb at a CD shop near the New Bus Stand which went off in the small hours. Rasheeda Bibi in the nearby house was injured while the shop was completely destroyed. A case was registered against unknown militants.

ARMS SEIZED The police seized arms and drugs arresting seven persons in the district.

District Police Officer Dilawar Bangash said that the Jungle Khel police stopped a suspicious car and bus on the Indus Highway. Upon checking the vehicles, police recovered four Kalashnikovs, seven rifles, 24 kilograms of hashish, two-and-half kilograms of heroin and thousands of cartridges.

Accused Amanullah, Atiqullah, Amanullah Jan, Hazrat Wali, Tariq, Mansoor and Saadullah were arrested on the occasion while accused Mohammad Yasin was at large. Cases were registered at Saddar and Jungle Khel police stations.

PARKING BANNED The district administration has banned parking at sensitive places and issued shoot-at-sight orders to security forces if suspicious people refused to stop for checking.

Display of arms has been banned, officials said. All entry points from the tribal areas into Kohat had been sealed as a precautionary measure to stop suicide bombers.

Security personnel in plainclothes had been deployed at public parks, bazaars and major shopping centres, they added.—Correspondent
