Dow, CBM, AKU win in basketball

KARACHI, May 23 Dow University, College of Business Management and the AKU won their respective matches in the eighth AKU Inter-university basketball tournament here at the AKU Gymnasium on Friday.

Dow University inflicted a 52-43 defeat on Greenwich University with Sajjad Ali Mughal leading the way with 21 points. Ali Ahmed (12) and Abbas Shiraz (12) also played well for the winners. Fahad Ahmed contributed a whooping 28 points but failed to save Greenwich from defeat.

Shooters Ali Raza scored 19 and Lavish Rakhani (15) as the CBM thrashed Szabist 77-32. Azam Naz scored 19 points for the losers.

Meanwhile, hosts AKU routed NUST 68-31. S. Muzammil (16), Noman Fazal (11) and Arvind Kumar (8) were the main scorers for the winners. Hamid Zafar reached the double figure with 11 points.—APP
