GILGIT, May 23 People on Saturday condemned attack on a student hostel in the city.

They protested against the attack on Bagrote Student Hostel with hand grenade and semi-automatic guns, in which one student was killed while another sustained injuries.

People took to street in Danyore, Haramosh, Susi and other areas over the attack. In Gilgit city, protesters burnt tyres on roads. Police had erected blockades on roads suspending traffic for over four hours.

Itehad Chowk, Khazana Road, Khomar, Nasim Cinema Chowk, River view road, Sakwar, Danyore, Rux Chowk, and many other areas remained blocked on the occasion.

Protestors also blocked the Karakoram Highway at various points and traffic was suspended for hours on the roads to Skardu and Chilas. Police and law enforcing agencies kept patrolling on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Police raided various places and took four suspects into custody for interrogations.

RELIEF DRIVE A relief point to collect various commodities for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) has been established at the CSD point in the Cantonment area of Gilgit.

According to the ISPR, people could donate relief items for onward transportation. People could also contact on phones 05811-961-3122 for any information.
